Sizzle & Heat ("we," "us," "our," sizzleandheat.com) respects your privacy. This page explains what information this site collects — including automatically, not just what you send us — how affiliate links work, and who to contact with questions. We've tried to write it in plain English rather than dense legal boilerplate, in keeping with how we write everything else here.
The short version
This site doesn't have user accounts, sign-up forms, or a newsletter right now. We don't run advertising trackers, and we don't intentionally collect or sell personal information beyond what you send us directly by email. Some technical information is still shared automatically just by visiting any website — including this one — which we explain below rather than skip over.
Information we collect
Information you give us directly. If you email us at hello@sizzleandheat.com, we receive whatever you choose to include — typically your email address, name if you provide one, and your message. We use this only to respond to you, we don't add it to any list, and we don't share it with anyone else. We keep emails only as long as needed to answer your question, then delete them.
Information collected automatically. Like effectively every website, this one shares some technical information with the services that make it work, even without any form or sign-up. Right now that includes:
- This site loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests those font files directly from Google's servers — so Google receives your IP address, general browser/device information, and which page you're on, governed by Google's own privacy policy, not ours.
- Once this site is hosted on a live server, the hosting provider will typically log standard technical data for every visit — IP address, browser type, device type, and timestamps — the same way virtually all web hosts do by default, for security and basic operation.
We don't use this technical information to identify you personally, build a profile, or sell it — it exists because that's how the underlying services work, not because we chose to collect it.
How we use information
We use what we collect to: respond to your emails, keep the site running and secure, understand affiliate-link referrals well enough to earn Amazon commissions, and comply with the law if we're ever required to. We don't use it for advertising, and we don't sell it.
Cookies and tracking
This site does not set its own tracking, advertising, session, or persistent cookies. (Session cookies would disappear when you close your browser; persistent cookies would stick around longer — we simply don't set either kind ourselves.) If you click through to Amazon or another retailer via an affiliate link, that retailer may set its own cookies, of either type, according to its own privacy policy — that's outside our control once you leave this site. Most browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies in their privacy or settings menu if you'd like more control; blocking third-party cookies shouldn't affect your ability to read anything on sizzleandheat.com itself. We currently honor no special "Do Not Track" signal beyond the choices described here, since we don't run our own tracking to begin with.
Affiliate links and how we make money
Sizzle & Heat participates in the Amazon Associates Program and may include affiliate links in our guides and reviews. If you click one of these links and make a purchase — typically within Amazon's standard 24-hour tracking window from your click — we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Amazon (and any other retailer we link to) handles that transaction and any related data according to its own privacy policy, not ours. See our full affiliate disclosure for more on how this works and how it does — and doesn't — affect what we recommend.
Data sharing
We don't sell your information. We share it only with the service providers that make the site work — currently Google (for font delivery) and, once live, our hosting provider — and only to the extent those services inherently require. If Sizzle & Heat is ever sold or transferred, any information we hold would transfer as part of that, under this policy or a successor policy at least as protective.
Data security
We take reasonable steps to protect the limited information we handle, but no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security — the same honest limitation any site should tell you.
Third-party links
Our guides link out to retailers, manufacturers, and other sources for further reading. Once you leave sizzleandheat.com, that site's own privacy policy applies, not this one. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of any site you visit.
Your privacy rights — California, GDPR, and beyond
Because this site currently collects so little personal information, there's not much for most privacy-law rights to act on today — but the rights themselves still apply if you're covered by them. This includes California's CCPA/CPRA, the EU's GDPR, and comparable state laws in Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and Texas. If you're covered by any of these, you can still contact us at any time to ask what we hold about you, request it be corrected or deleted, or ask any other privacy question, and we'll respond honestly even where the answer is simply "we don't have anything beyond your email."
Children's privacy
Sizzle & Heat is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
If you've emailed us and would like that message deleted from our inbox, just ask at the address below and we'll take care of it. Beyond that, most of what touches your privacy on this site — Google Fonts, hosting logs, Amazon's affiliate cookies — is handled by the third party providing that service, so your browser's own privacy settings (blocking third-party cookies, using a content blocker) are the most direct way to control it.
Changes to this policy
If how this site collects or handles information changes — for example, if we add a newsletter, analytics, or a contact form — we'll update this page and change the "last updated" date at the top before that feature goes live.
